About the position
The ideal candidate will have a extensive experience and a passion for supporting individuals with challenging behaviours, understanding emotional triggers and techniques for redirection. Training will be provided.
As a Lifestyle Assistant you will provide high quality support to people with disabilities and complex behaviours. This involves undertaking a broad range of duties which includes personal care, medication administration, household tasks, administrative functions and above all, engaging and supporting participants to live their best life.
About you
You have extensive experience supporting people with mental health, intellectual impairment and challenging behaviours.
You have an in depth understanding and experience of trauma informed care, have the ability to build rapport, develop awareness of participant triggers, deescalate situations and have the ability to understand personal boundaries and provide space to Participants when escalations occur.
You are patient, empathetic and are truly passionate about helping people, and supporting their goals to realisation.
Skills:
- Ability to support Participants challenging behaviours
- Passion for supporting individuals with disabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comprehensive understanding of restrictive practices
Responsibilities:
- Provide a range of shifts across the 24/7 supports to Sally in her SIL home in the Ipswich area
- Assist with daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and community outings
- Engage in activities that align with Sally’s interests, such as cooking, dancing, music and social outings
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure consistent support for Sally
- Follow guidelines set by PBSP Clinician for working effectively with Sally
Qualifications:
- Certificate III in Individual Support or Disability or higher relevant qualifications
- First Aid/CPR certification required
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable, registered and insured transportation
- NDS Worker Screen
- Blue Card
- Current National Criminal History Check
- Availability for early morning starts, sleepover shifts and flexible with your availability.

- Supporting Safe and Enjoyable meals
- Supporting Effective Communication
