We are seeking a Senior Officer – Water Quality to support the regional implementation of the Water Corporation’s Drinking Water Quality Management Framework. This permanent opportunity based in our Karratha office, takes effect on 30th March 2025 , and will report to the Technical Advisor – Water Quality, Operation Services Northwest Region. As the Senior Officer – Water Quality, you’ll be providing operational support by monitoring and responding to drinking water quality and compliance requirements.

What you can expect from this role:

  • Support the Technical Advisor - Water Quality in the implementation of the DWQ Management Framework using a Catchment to Tap approach.
  • Assist with the ongoing monitoring and analysis of regional performance against regulatory and operational requirements for water quality management and compliance.
  • Monitor and report completion of compliance requirements.
  • Support the performance reporting process within the region with ongoing review of data integrity, compilation of analytical reports, analysis and assessment of variances and trends to assist with identifying actions in response to risks to Water Quality compliance.
  • Support and assist with water quality investigations, site inspections, catchment management strategy reviews, water safety plan development and internal and external process audits.
  • Support reviews of DWQ process requirements and implementation of agreed improvements.
  • Actively engage and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Degree qualification in environmental science, engineering or science AND relevant experience in drinking water quality management and catchment management.

OR

  • Tertiary qualification in environmental science, engineering or science AND considerable experience in drinking water quality management and catchment management.

OR

  • Substantial experience in drinking water quality management and catchment management.

OR

  • Good process management skills.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the 2011 Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment processes.
  • Stakeholder management and liaison skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and written skills.
  • Experience in drinking water quality and water supply operations is desirable.

What’s on offer?

  • Super 11.5% plus the option of salary sacrificing at least 2% and Water Corporation will match with an additional 2%
  • Location allowance paid fortnightly as an allowance
  • Leave loading of 17.5% on annual leave of 4 weeks
  • Additional five days annual leave after one year of service (working above the 26th parallel)
  • Other NWR conditions including travel allowances (meals, inconvenience and incidental) for remote travel, annual leave travel conditions and annual leave travel time
  • Air-conditioning subsidies
  • Potential eligibility for remote housing assistance
