About the Opportunity
Two exciting opportunities exists within CaFHS Outer North Team in Salisbury and surrounding areas to join the team as a Therapy - Psychologist or Therapy - Social Worker with one position ongoing , and the other a 12 month contract , both working in a full -time capacity.
The Women's and Children's Health Network (WCHN) is committed to early intervention and the promotion of child and family health. The Therapy - Psychologist and / or Therapy - Social Worker contributes to this by providing:
- Specialist psychotherapeutic service to individuals, families, and groups with a focus on parenting in the early years, including infants and children at moderate to high risk.
- Professional opinion, support and training for Child and Family Health Service (CaFHS) staff in the areas of parent-infant/child relationships, social-emotional health of families, child development, parenting, child protection, assessment and referral. This requires specialist knowledge and skills within a multidisciplinary setting and the Psychologist / and or Social Worker liaises closely with other CaFHS teams and appropriate agencies.
- Resource development and training in the above areas, to the wider community as required.
As the CAFHS Therapy - Psychologist and or / Therapy - Social Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Providing assessment and intervention with infants, young children and families, including culturally and linguistically diverse families and families at moderate to high risk.
- Providing psychotherapy to individuals, families and groups.
- Utilising psychological diagnostic and therapeutic techniques
- Work independently with a high degree of responsibility within the structure of regular supervision and direction.
You should have experience in and knowledge of:
- Providing high quality individual and group therapy with parents and infants (0-3 years).
- Specialist knowledge of infant and child development, psychological and social issues affecting young children's development and in particular attachment theory and practice
- Specialist knowledge of the complex factors impacting on parenting, including mental health, domestic and family violence, drug and alcohol misuse, homelessness and poverty.
- The issues impacting upon parenting in Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse families.
- Knowledge of screening tools and therapeutic techniques relevant to assessment, intervention and evaluation to assist families with specific infant and young child focussed problems.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification and general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Registration must be obtained prior to commencement in position. Or:
- Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
