The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity to work and learn with QBuild, the designated builder for the Queensland Government. We provide a wide range of services, from constructing new buildings to upgrading and renovating existing ones. We also assist in rapid responses to disasters and hazards to safeguard Queenslanders. Duties that you may undertake throughout the apprenticeship:

  • Gain hands-on experience in carpentry through on-the-job training with qualified carpenters.
  • Learn various carpentry techniques, such as framing, installing fixtures, measuring, cutting, and assembling materials.
  • Analyse blueprints, codes, and instructions to understand project requirements.
  • Determine material quantities needed for projects to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Ensure accurate and high-quality workmanship in all tasks.
  • Review each job to ensure completion according to requirements before handover.
  • Adhere to safety regulations to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and clients to provide updates on project progress.
  • Upon completion, progress to a fully qualified carpenter with the possibility to specialise in specific areas of carpentry as you gain experience.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia (Permanent residency)
  • Completed Year 10 with a pass in Maths and English
  • The ability to transport yourself and your tools to and from work/training sites. (Please note: a driver's licence is not a mandatory requirement)
  • Willingness to obtain a Construction Industry White Card prior to commencement
