The City of Burnside and Squash SA are seeking coaches for an exciting Wheelchair Squash Pilot Program. You'll run engaging sessions, create an inclusive space, and help grow adaptive squash.

  • People with disability will be prioritised for this position.
  • Applicants must be willing to be a contractor for Squash SA and have an ABN.
  • Applicants must be over 18 years old.

The Wheelchair Squash Coach will be responsible for:

  • Prepare for and set up the session, ensuring all equipment is ready and safe.
  • Creating safe, welcoming, and inclusive sporting and leisure environments for everyone.
  • Delivering engaging and inclusive sessions, teaching foundation wheelchair sports skills and techniques.
  • Maintaining clear and effective communication with participants, addressing any concerns or questions.
  • Working collaboratively with other staff and volunteers to ensure a smooth and successful session.
  • Adapting sessions to meet the needs of different participants, ensuring everyone can participate fully.
  • Communicating with the City of Burnside and Squash SA to prepare for sessions.

Applicants must be available to attend an in-person training workshop on May 15, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM .

The workshop will be held at the Community Centre Hall, 401 Greenhill Road, Tusmore , and will be delivered by Disability Sports Australia and Squash SA .

  • Hold a valid Foundation, Level 1,2 or 3 squash coaching certification (through Squash Australia’s national certification program)
  • A Foundation certification is required. The $60 fee for completing this certification at Squash Australia Learning Centre will be reimbursed upon submission of the certification, provided the applicant is successful.
  • Completion of Disability Sports Australia’s Accessibility Champion course (prior to delivery of first session)
  • Comply with all Squash Australia Policies under Sport Integrity Australia’s under the National Integrity Framework.
  • Be an affiliate member of a South Australian squash club, Squash SA and Squash Australia (Support level membership required as a minimum, approx. $15 per year which can be reimbursed by Squash SA upon receipt of payment.
  • Complete Sport Integrity Australia’s online training course: Child Safeguarding in Sport Induction
