The Role
Joint Proof and Experimental Unit Environmental Test Officers work within the Joint Proof and Experimental Headquarters supporting guided weapon and explosive ordnance (GWEO) tests. JPEU is seeking dynamic and motivated individuals to take on the role of Test Officer within the Environmental Test Facility (ETF).
The ETF conducts non-destructive test and evaluation trials on explosives platforms, munitions and other equipment across a range of environmental specialities. These specialities include climatic (simulated weather), radiographic (x-ray), shock and vibration (shake and rattle). Environmental Test Officers under the guidance of their disciple Specialists and Team Leaders, support the set up and safe operation of equipment required to undertake testing activities. An internal engineering team and the wider JPEU engineering team support the ETF.
Test Officers will support environmental test programs and plans by establishing test areas and platforms, coordinating test programs, collecting test data, refurbishing work areas and undertaking non-technical inspection and maintenance of equipment.
The successful candidate will be appointed on a Baseline security clearance whilst NV1 is being undertaken.

The ETF conducts non-destructive test and evaluation trials on platforms explosives, munitions and other equipment across a range of environmental specialties. These specialties include climatic (simulated weather), radiographic (x-ray) and shock and vibration (shake and rattle).
The ETF supports guided weapon and explosive ordnance test and evaluation activities. The ETF has capabilities enabling the climatic, non-destructive, vibration and mechanical testing of items, and other elements for artificial aging of Defence explosive ordnance. The JPEU engineering team also provide direct support to the ETF.
Employment at Port Wakefield also currently attracts a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance of $309.85 per fortnight.

- Apply technical knowledge and experience, understand priorities to identify, define issues and implement corrective actions.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
- Assess technical packages including scoping, planning and reviewing of packages and provide recommendations for consideration.
- Ensure safety aspects of Defence capability are considered and incorporated into armaments technical activities and tasks.
- Research, apply and contribute to the development of technical documentation for review.
- Perform moderately complex to complex armaments technical activities and associated tasks working to agreed priorities and outcomes.
The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of JPEU, to achieve business outcomes. In this role, the individual will provide support to a geographically dispersed team.
