Supervise and support a team to deliver services, projects, workshops and events to improve First Nations student engagement, retention and success.
About the Position
First Nations Leadership & Engagement is an Aboriginal-led portfolio which plays a critical role in driving the University’s strategic goals and includes the First Nations Students & Engagement (FNS&E) team who support existing and prospective First Nations students in both TAFE and Higher Education
As Manager First Nations Student Support , you will supervise and support a team of First Nations Student Support Officers to deliver academic and pastoral services, projects, programs and workshops to improve First Nations student retention and success. As the leader of a dynamic and diverse team, you will have core responsibility for day-to-day leadership, coordination and management of this small team (currently 6 staff) across two Centres (Gurinbey in Casuarina and Akaltye in Alice Springs) as well as First Nations student and staff events, reporting, administration and compliance.
About You
To be successful, you will require:
• Identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of First Nations peoples and ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with First Nations peoples.
• Completion of or progress towards a relevant graduate qualification and/or extensive proven experience in staff and program management and administration.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a small and dynamic First Nations team with responsibility for supervision and people management including working autonomously and collaboratively to broker effective and efficient solutions to complex issues and tasks.
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with a range of internal (CDU) and external stakeholders to provide high level advice and expertise on CDU’s approach to First Nations Students and Engagement.
• An ability to apply specialist knowledge and skills to information technology such as CDU’s internal governance, management and administration tools/systems (e.g. CRM, CALLISTA, One Education, Area 52 and others)

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Professional Level 8. The base salary will be in the range of $104,888 to $108,306 pa per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $122,718 to $126,718 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
