Your Role
As a key player in our Data Office, you will drive strategic Data Governance initiatives at UniSuper. Your focus will be on promoting data literacy and uplifting data culture to support effective data management. Building strong relationships with stakeholders is crucial, and you will need to adapt your communication based on the audience's familiarity with data practices. Your responsibilities include improving data governance documentation across all levels, managing the Data Governance knowledge centre, and representing the Data Office in various forums.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure Data Governance policies, procedures, and standards are in place and operationalised across the organisation.
- Support Data Owners and Data Stewards on their Data Governance journey, assisting with the adoption of Data Catalogue and associated processes.
- Develop and implement a data communication plan and data literacy uplift programme across business data domains.
- Contribute to internal and external audits as needed.
- Work with the business to design and iterate processes, streamline efforts, uplift compliance, and deliver business value.
- Manage multiple tasks and priorities autonomously and collaboratively.
- Shape and grow the maturing Data Governance functionality at UniSuper.
About You
Experience, Capability, and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in at least two Data Management Areas (Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Risk, Data Modelling, Reporting).
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in developing and managing Data Catalogue processes and tools.
- Strong analysis experience on systems and processes in the Super Industry or Fund Management.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as CPS230, CPG235, CPS234, NIST, FAR, BFID, Australian Privacy Act, GDPR (good to have).
- Experience working within Agile methodology for Project and BAU.
- Self-managing end-to-end delivery of small governance initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, relationship development, and data ownership conflict resolution skills.
- Practical knowledge in DAMA-DAMBOK or other Governance Control frameworks.
- Experience with SQL, Python, and analysis of data across different systems.
- Experience in data governance issue resolution.
- Experience with Alation or other data cataloguing solutions.
