Dawn Bakery is seeking an experienced and passionate Pastry Chef to join their dedicated team at Dawn Bakery in Hunters Hill. The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation, preparation, and presentation of a wide range of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods, ensuring they meet our client's exacting standards and delight their customers. This role requires a strong understanding of pastry techniques, a creative flair, and a commitment to maintaining exceptional food quality and hygiene standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and execute a diverse range of pastry, bread and dessert recipes, ensuring consistent high quality, taste, and presentation in line with our client's standards and customer preferences.
- Monitor and maintain the highest standards of food quality, taste, and presentation throughout the production process.
- Contribute to the development and creation of new pastry and bread offerings, incorporating local flavours and seasonal ingredients, while accurately following established recipes and being open to adaptation based on local tastes and availability.
- Oversee the ordering, receiving, and storage of pastry ingredients, ensuring optimal quality and minimizing waste, and assist in managing pastry inventory levels to ensure adequate supply.
- Execute the complete pastry production process, from preparing dough and fillings (kneading, mixing, shaping) using equipment like dough rollers, through to baking, cooling, and ensuring product quality.
- Decorate pastries and deserts, ensuring visually appealing and high-quality finished products.
- Ensure all pastry preparation areas adhere to strict food hygiene, safety, and WorkSafe Australia regulations, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Ensure the quality of all raw materials and accurately measure ingredients as part of the preparation process.
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Relevant qualification.
- At least 1 year of proven experience as a Pastry Chef, preferably within a bakery setting.
- Strong understanding and practical application of various pastry techniques.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Food Hygiene Regulations and safe food handling practices in Australia.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality pastries.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Salary:
The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $70,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
