We are a reputable dealer of both new and pre-owned vessels, providing high-quality services to maintain and upgrade boats.
Our business faces a significant shortage of skilled marine upholsterers and pattern makers. We deal with millions of dollars' worth of vessels, and specialized training and experience are critical to ensure the safety and quality of our work.
It takes up to a year to fully train a marine upholsterer to meet our business standards, and their role is essential to maintaining the highest quality in our boat renovations and sales.
On behalf of our client, we are currently seeking a dedicated and highly organized Upholsterer to be part of their growing team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the installation and replacement of upholstery on boats and marine vessels, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship.
- Create and cut custom patterns for marine upholstery based on client requirements and boat specifications.
- Repair and restore damaged upholstery on vessels to ensure a high level of craftsmanship and durability.
- Collaborate with clients and team members to design and customize upholstery solutions for boat interiors and exteriors.
- Maintain and operate upholstery tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Accurately measure and fit upholstery materials, ensuring all installations are precise and secure.
- Provide guidance and support to junior upholsterers or apprentices, ensuring skill development and high-quality work.
- Assist in team collaboration to meet deadlines for boat renovations and repairs.
- Diploma or Certificate in Upholstery or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in upholstery, preferably with experience in marine or boat upholstery.
- Strong knowledge of upholstery techniques and the ability to work with various materials
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills.
- Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and working with large materials.
- Basic understanding of materials suitable for marine environments and furniture applications.
Salary:
The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $73,150; plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
