We now have an opportunity for a new Financial Accountant to join our head office finance team in the heart of Brisbane's CBD.

In this role you will be providing support to the Finance Manager and wider finance team in delivering the preparation of monthly financials to budget holders enabling improved operations and management of changes in the external environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Work effectively and innovatively within the Finance Team to deliver highly accurate and timely analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual financial performance management reports to support the decision-making process
• Assist and preparation of end of month reporting on a timely basis including but not limited to the following tasks - expense accruals, intercompany charges, prepayments, lease accounting entries, payroll and bank reconciliations
• Assist with reviewing and providing variance and trend analysis of the monthly income statement on a timely basis
• Preparing Monthly Cashflow statement and Cashflow Forecast when requested
• Preparation and lodgement of returns required for regulatory compliance with the Australian Taxation office including but limited to Business Activity Statement (BAS), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) Return and application for refund of franking credits.
• Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts including clearing variances on a regular basis and ensuring accurate reporting of the general ledger accounts
• Management of the Fixed Asset Register, including setting up Assets to the appropriate Asset group and depreciation rate, monthly depreciation, disposals.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly board papers including but not limited to providing insights to the companies’ financial performance,
• On a timely basis, assist with the preparation and lodgement of reporting associated with funding bodies, acquittals, Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and other associations when requested.
• Assist with the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements, including liaising with external Auditors, resolving discrepancies and advising on variances
• Ensuring our processes and procedures comply with internal controls, accounting policies and accounting standards
• Contribute to maximising efficiencies for the Finance Systems and rolling out system improvements across the team.
• Work on adhoc finance projects as requested by the finance group leadership team

Requirements include:

• Provide evidence of ability to prepare management reporting, and other ad-hoc finance reports. Include details demonstrating advanced Excel skills
• Experience in utilising ERP systems and working with data from financial systems
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with a wide variety of internal, external, finance and non-finance stakeholders, particularly business unit budget holders
• Demonstrate ability to work independently, problem solve, communicate effectively and manage expectations in order to meet set deadlines
• Studying towards post graduate business qualification (such as CA or CPA) is preferred but not essential
• A relevant tertiary degree qualification
• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and a National Police Check (we can help if successful).
