Description:
BME Engineering are currently looking to recruit an experienced and qualified Shipwright to join their team in Cairns QLD.
Key responsibilities:
- Fit and install frames, fittings, safety equipment and other structural elements.
- Studying plans and specifications and preparing templates and scale plans for fabrication.
- Building of center bulkheads, frames and brackets at portside and star board side
- Perform repairs and maintenance on carbon steel pipes, stainless steel plates, steam and high pressurized pipes
- Assess and repair requirements and procedures for damaged vessels
- Assembling shells of boats and erecting hull sections
- Knowledgeable and well experienced in making hull moulds, fabricate and repair vessels using materials such as aluminum, wood, kevlar glass, reinforced plastics, concrete, carbon fiber and fiberglass
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in boat building or shipwrighting.
- A trade certificate is desirable (e.g., Certificate III in Marine Craft Construction).
- A strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability, enthusiastic, and possess a strong work ethic
Salary range is $70,000-$85,000pa commensurate with experience
