HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly clients living in their home. As a pastoral care volunteer, you’ll be actively involved with a local Christian church.
We are seeking a Pastoral Care Volunteer to visit an elderly client living at home in Blacktown. She enjoys listening to music on YouTube, watching TV shows, and playing games on her phone. She also appreciates the value of having someone to chat with and share time together. Previously worked in a shirt factory, she also loves cricket, football and cowboy movies. Lives in her childhood home, would love someone to come and read the Bible together, pray together, sing hymns and serve communion. She will benefit from having a pastoral care volunteer visit her.
You’ll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:
* Support people to meet their spiritual needs
* Nurture spiritual development

Skills required for this role:

- High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
- Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.
Spiritual Care Series North Turramurra - Face to face
When: starts Wednesday 7th May, concludes 2nd July 2025. Note a break for the week 4th June
Time:2:00 – 4:00pm
Where: Leighton Lodge, Nth Turramurra
Impact
Volunteering along side Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.

Requirements18 years or older • National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare •
We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one hour visit between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday, visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
