About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Internal Communications Coordinator to join the NSW State Emergency Service (SES). This role is responsible for developing and delivering effective internal communication strategies to keep our volunteers and staff informed and engaged. The role plays a crucial part in ensuring clear, timely, and engaging communications across multiple channels, fostering a connected and informed workforce.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have experience in developing and delivering internal communication strategies across diverse teams
  • Be proficient in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Have strong writing and editing skills, with experience creating engaging content for multiple internal channels (e.g., intranet, newsletters, emails)
  • Be confident in using digital tools for internal communications
  • Possess a relevant qualification or have demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field
  • Have an interest in supporting the agency’s operational needs, including working as part of an incident management team during heightened periods of operational activity. This may include occasional weekend/ night shift, where the requirements are within the scope of your skills, knowledge and capabilities.
