Role Overview

As a Simulator Technician you will be responsible for performing all preventative and corrective maintenance on training devices under support. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role will ensure that training events are executed and the contracted service is available to the end user.

In addition to the above, the Senior Simulator Technician acts as the shift leader and is responsible for their own safety and that of all Simulator Technicians, staff, customers and visitors. This role will be the point-of-contact for all technical maintenance enquiries on site during a shift and will act as delegate for the Maintenance Manager during their times of absence.

The role is full time, based at the RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW.

The role we are offering you

  • Leading the maintenance shift to ensure effective maintenance outcomes are achieved

  • Executing maintenance actions, meeting internal and external compliance requirements

  • Supervising the maintenance shift to ensure efficient use of resources

  • Training and mentoring of all Simulator Technicians, Apprentices, to support the Maintenance Manager in developing a competent workforce.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Strong experience as a simulator technician or related experience

  • Ideally hold a Cert IV in Aeroskills or equivalent

  • Defence and/or Hawk Platform experience will be looked upon favourably

  • Electrical and/or IT backgrounds will be looked upon favourably

Security requirements

As the Australian Department of Defence is a major client, you must be eligible for SECRET (NV1) level Defence security clearance, and preferably already hold a current SECRET (NV1) clearance.
