Are you passionate about helping people and want to make a difference? We currently have an opportunity for a passionate individual to join our team as ETC’s Local Area Manager within our Training Services contract to be based within the Hunter/ New England North West Region.

The Role - A Day in the Life of a Local Area Manager

As a Local Area Manager, you will be responsible for providing flexible and practical Self-Employment Assistance to eligible participants, including the provision of business coaching, advice and mentoring services. You will be responsible for overseeing operations of the assigned local area to achieve the successful delivery of the Self-Employment Assistance program. The role will also include managing staff and resources to achieve operational budgets and ETC’s agreed targets as set by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR).

Your Key Responsibilities will include;

  • Lead and manage a team of Business Advisors and Trainers in a nominated region.
  • Provide coaching, support, and professional development opportunities to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Oversee the delivery of Self-Employment Assistance services, including caseload management, business planning, coaching, advice, training delivery, and mentoring services.
  • Ensure services are delivered in compliance with the DEED and Workforce Australia Services reporting requirements.
  • Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback to ensure targets are met.
  • Identify and address issues that may impact service delivery and performance targets.
  • Implement corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure team activities comply with organisational policies and contractual requirements.
  • Conduct regular quality control checks to maintain high standards of service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Managers, Program Manager and other stakeholders to enhance program quality and growth.
  • Represent the team in meetings and discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry into DEWR and ETC IT systems by team members.
  • Monitor data integrity and reporting to support program evaluation and improvement.
  • Assist in managing and allocating resources, including assets and human resources, to achieve operational objectives.
  • Support the Program Manager in budget management and financial planning.

Criteria for Success

  • Demonstrated experience working in a management role.
  • Proficient in developing and maintaining efficient administrative systems to ensure full compliance with contracts. Experienced in managing procedures according to organisational policies and contractual requirements.
  • Possess the ability to read and interpret profit & loss statements and achieve financial budgets. Demonstrated knowledge in managing assets, staffing levels, and resources to meet operational and financial objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and deliver specified end results.
  • Highly developed communication skills (interpersonal, liaison, negotiating) with individuals and groups. Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with local businesses and community organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving performance by engaging & motivating staff. Experience in managing underperforming staff and demonstrated high level of innovation and initiative in problem solving and achieving objectives and targets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the local labour market and the ability to represent ETC at regional forums such as Interagency Groups; bodies associated with cohorts such as Indigenous and Disability Interagency networks and location based interagency groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to use various IT systems and platforms relevant to the role.
  • Current clear Working with Children Check or Blue Card (QLD) and National Police Check (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
  • Current driver’s licence.
