Description:
Hughenden Multipurpose Health Service is a level 2 (CSCF), non-birthing, 6 aged care bed and 9 acute care beds rural hospital with emergency and ambulatory services. Ambulatory services include community health nursing, child health nursing, midwife led ante-natal and post-natal care, health worker, and visiting allied health including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology and social work.
An opportunity has arisen for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Trainee (Identified) to join their service on a fixed term temporary basis, for 18 months. This position is located in Hughenden.

Requirements:
- Mandatory: Enrolment in one of the following:
- Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care
- Certificate IV Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care
- Diploma Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
- On completion of the required qualification within 18 months from date of commencement, subject to successful performance, will be offered direct appointment to an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker HWF2 role upon receipt of the mandatory qualification.
- It is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
- Possession of class C drivers' licence.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted including criminal history clearance, Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Blue Card Checks.
