Our journey started over six years ago with a simple dream – to bring the heart of Italy to the northern suburbs of Brisbane. Within no time, we were full to the brim with locals who had become like family. In 2021, we expanded by adding a beautiful timber-decked function area, creating even more room for laughter, milestones, and memories.
The Role – Business Manager
We’re on the lookout for an experienced, hands-on Business Manager who can help us strengthen our foundations and grow the business – all while keeping the heart of what makes Basil & Vine special. This isn’t a desk-only role. We need someone who can balance strategy and spreadsheets with rolling up their sleeves to help with service, support the team, and connect with our guests.

What You’ll Be Doing
Leading the Business (with heart and strategy)
- Manage and monitor the financial health of the business – budgets, forecasts, and cost control
- Find smart ways to save and invest, helping us grow while staying true to our values
- Ensure we meet all financial and regulatory obligations
Driving Growth (without losing our soul)
- Identify opportunities to improve and evolve while staying authentic
- Help shape our vision and bring fresh ideas to the table
- Use data, feedback, and a good dose of common sense to guide decisions
Running the Floor (and the back of house)
- Be present and hands-on in daily operations – from greeting guests to supporting kitchen and front-of-house teams
- Work with our chefs and service team to uphold our high standards
- Keep things running smoothly, cleanly, and in line with health and safety regs
Making Improvements (with care and collaboration)
- Lead change initiatives that improve efficiency and the customer experience
- Coach and mentor the team through transitions and new processes
- Keep our systems, workflows, and service aligned with our long-term goals
Team Culture & Leadership
- Inspire and support our team – helping them grow in confidence, skill, and pride in their work
- Communicate clearly and regularly with staff about goals, feedback, and opportunities
- Build a team culture that reflects the love and passion of an Italian kitchen
Customer Connection
- Greet, chat, listen – make our guests feel like they’ve walked into a friend’s home
- Resolve issues gracefully and with empathy
- Help build customer loyalty through personal touches and thoughtful experiences
About You
- You bring 3+ years of experience in hospitality or business management – and you’ve done more than just manage from a desk
- You know how to read a P&L and have a good feel for budgeting, planning, and performance tracking
- You’re a natural leader – calm under pressure, clear in communication, and great at bringing people together
- You love good food and understand the magic that happens when service, quality, and care come together
- You’re willing to be on the floor, helping, guiding, and showing by example
- You’ve got a head for strategy, a heart for people, and hands ready to pitch in
