PURPOSE OF JOB AND GENERAL DUTIES
As an Electronics Engineer for Tester Development, you will work within our Industry 4.0 team to design, develop and implement system-level improvement projects in our process control & production testing systems. You will also work closely with our Senior Electronics Tester Technicians to develop the next generation of electronics test equipment including DC/DC and AC/DC testing, electronic Bed of Nails testers, firmware programmers, Bluetooth and GPS testers.
- Provide technical support and fault finding of electronic test equipment and product testing processes.
- Test system functionality and analyse data.
- Build and test of new testing equipment to electronic drawings and specifications.
- Repair malfunctions in circuitry and other system structures.
- Use LabVIEW to set up new electronic test processes.
- Design and development of electronic circuits for new testing processes.
- Work with production to participate in the Root Cause Analysis teams and implement process improvements.
- Support the integration of test equipment to networked databases.
- Support the review and development of test sequences to meet engineering specification.
- Prototype test hardware and validate design.
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing staff to understand and improve test equipment and methods
- Provide input into new product development with a particular focus on design for test, product functionality and design for manufacture and assembly.
- Apply the company’s Stage Gate methodology and project standards to project work
- Ensure WHS and environmental policies are adhered to and raise any non-conformances.
- Undertake other reasonable tasks as delegated by Line Manager.
Required:
- Degree or higher in electronics engineering (or equivalent field) with at least 5 years’ experience or demonstrated equivalent industry experience.
- Good understanding of electronics testing methods & procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, including cross-functional teams, while being receptive to learning from experienced colleagues.
- Encompassing comfort with a "hands-on" approach, eagerness to learn, a diverse range of electronics skills, initiative, accuracy in following procedures, and experience in electronic product fault finding.
- Effective management of priorities and time.
- Analytical skills and the ability to get to the root cause of quality issues.
Desirable:
- Ability to read electronic schematic drawings or electronics specification.
- Knowledge of PCB and electronic design software like Altium or similar.
- Knowledge of testing and electronics software packages like Labview or similar.
- Good understanding of mechanical tolerancing.
