Join Miwatj Health as a Workplace Injury Rehabilitation Specialist , where you will lead the management of workplace injury and fitness for work cases from initial reporting to resolution. In this role, you will oversee a complex caseload, ensuring effective injury management and return-to-work strategies that align with legislative and organisational priorities. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including medical professionals, rehabilitation providers, and insurers, to drive positive outcomes for employees and the communities we serve. Additionally, you will provide expert guidance on workplace health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives, proactively identifying trends and implementing strategies to enhance Miwatj’s performance in injury prevention and employee support. About Miwatj

Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations.

Essential Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Aboriginal Community Control and self-determination, along with an appreciation of the challenges faced by Yolŋu people in remote settings. They will hold relevant qualifications in workplace health, safety, and wellness or a related field and demonstrate extensive experience in injury management and workplace health and safety legislation. With advanced computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office, they will excel in clear and culturally appropriate communication, program execution, and facilitating change. Key capabilities include decision-making, coaching, influencing, and fostering a psychologically safe work environment. The successful candidate will have substantial leadership experience in managing complex injury cases, workers' compensation, and return-to-work processes, as well as expertise in developing workplace interventions and delivering education. Experience in an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation or healthcare setting is desirable.
