Primary objective
In conjunction with the Health Promotion Program Development Officer, develop and deliver ear and hearing health promotion and
education activities to clients and families in the Top End, including urban and remote centres.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Work collaboratively with the health promotion team to plan, develop and evaluate hearing health promotion programs and resources
in line with relevant policies and strategies, through partnerships with stakeholders and by building networks.
2. Provide health promotion support and training to less experienced staff, including Community Liaison Officers, Nurses and Aboriginal
Health Practitioner.
3. Implement Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes to support the prevention of ear and hearing conditions in remote and
urban centres across the Top End.
4. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in
order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively liaise and develop
partnerships with colleagues, and a diverse range of government, non-government stakeholders and community stakeholders.
2. Demonstrated ability to provide organised and timely support using initiative, discretion and high order judgement while
demonstrating flexibility.
3. Demonstrated understanding of the social determinants of health and public health approaches to the delivery of health promotion
activities and how they relate to contemporary principles, theories and frameworks relating to community development.
4. Ability to collaborate with the team to achieve outcomes and meet program performance indicators.
5. Proven competence in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, including excel.
6. Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team in a cross-cultural environment with the ability to interact effectively with
people from diverse cultures.
7. Current Northern Territory driver licence or able to attain. Ability to travel to remote communities for up to 5 days at a time by either
4WD or light aircraft.
Desirable
1. Certificate IV in Population Health or Workplace Training and Assessment.
2. Qualifications in Health Promotion or relevant field.
