Primary objective
Assist with the development and delivery of assigned Capital Works and Minor New Works, and ensure projects are
delivered to achieve the objectives across the Region.
Context statement
The Housing Program Office is responsible for the delivery of the joint $4 billion investment under the National Partnership
for Remote Housing NT for housing across 73 remote communities and some Town Camps over the next 10 years. The
investment will be including the last three years of the 10 year ‘Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes.’ Remote Housing
Investment Package that commenced in 2017. The programs include land servicing, essential services, housing construction
and maintenance with focus on local decision making to improve housing conditions and reduce overcrowding in remote
communities with significant levels of need.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide oversight and input to contractual compliance for a range of housing project contracts across the NT.
2. Provide reports and updates on all allocated contracts according to contractual and agency requirements.
3. Develop and carry out a regime of inspections to ensure all projects across the region are visited at critical hold points
and milestones, and all legislative and contractual obligations are met. This will include the requirement to fly and/or
drive to remote site inspections and meetings with stakeholders.
4. Analyse data, produce reports and provide advice and recommendations on progress and other reports required by
stakeholders.
5. Carry out all duties in accordance with Departmental Work Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunities and
environmental guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Well-developed knowledge and extensive experience in the Construction Code, together with sound knowledge of
building design, the construction industry and repairs and maintenance management techniques.
2. Well-developed knowledge and experience in procurement, and project and contract management, with sound
knowledge of Work Health and Safety, legislation, policies and procedures.
3. Sound knowledge of planning and experience in the management of building projects, together with well-developed
reporting and Information Technology systems knowledge.
4. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain working relationships with all stakeholders.
5. Understanding factors that may impact on project outcomes for agencies and ensuring functional briefs are understood
and match requirements.
6. Ability to apply effective, practical approaches to issues, analyse risk and be pro-active, flexible, manage pressure and
change, exercise initiative, and meet deadlines.
7. Current NT Drivers licence or ability to obtain and ability to travel by 4WD and in small aircraft.
Desirable
1. Qualification in Project Management, procurement, business administration or similar.

work closely related to the duties of the vacancy.
