Autonomous Haulage Systems Solution Architect

Description:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Solution Architect / Software Architect with extensive experience in designing and implementing enterprise-grade solutions, with a strong focus on Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) and related mining automation technologies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of edge computing, real-time data processing, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) or vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication, AI/ML for autonomy, or industrial IoT to enhance automation in large-scale mining operations.
What you will be responsible for:

• Developing high-level and detailed system architectures for autonomous haulage operations, ensuring seamless integration with existing mining control systems, fleet management software, and cloud-based platforms.
• Working closely with developers and operational teams to capture both functional and non-functional requirements specific to autonomous vehicle control, collision avoidance, load-haul-dump cycles, and mission planning.
• Preparing and presenting detailed design documents, including architecture diagrams, sequence diagrams, and data flow models, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
• Architecting low-latency, high-availability microservices using event-driven architecture, ensuring optimal performance for vehicle command-and-control systems.
• Deploying solutions in edge and cloud environments using Docker, Kubernetes, and AKKA framework for highly distributed computing environments.
• Developing scalable APIs, leveraging headless API concepts, asynchronous messaging (RabbitMQ), Redis caching, and service-oriented architectures for seamless interoperability.
• Ensuring compliance with enterprise and safety-critical software development standards relevant to mining automation.
• Staying ahead of emerging trends in autonomous vehicle technology, AI-driven fleet optimisation, digital twins, and telemetry analytics.

What you will bring to the role:

• Your extensive software architecture experience, with direct experience in autonomous haulage systems (AHS), fleet management systems (FMS), mining automation, or industrial IoT
• Your deep expertise in microservices, event-driven architectures, and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Your strong knowledge of C# / ASP.NET Core and real-time data processing technologies.
• Your hands-on experience with RabbitMQ, Redis, Swagger, and asynchronous APIs.
• Your experience working with edge computing architectures for real-time decision-making.
• Your knowledge of vehicle telemetry, CAN bus, ROS (Robot Operating System), and AI/ML models for autonomy would be highly advantageous.
• Your substantial experience with Agile methodologies and CI/CD best practices.
