Engineering Team Leader – Permanent Full Time – Perth Office

Are you an experienced engineering leader ready to drive innovation and excellence in asset management? Western Power is seeking an Engineering Team Leader to guide a team of skilled professionals in optimising asset performance across the network.

In this pivotal leadership role, you’ll lead the team responsible for developing and managing network investments and maintenance programs to ensure the safety and reliability of our transmission in-service assets.

As team leader, you’ll lead and mentor a team of asset management professionals, driving performance and continuous improvement in a complex technical environment. You’ll play a key role in shaping asset management strategies, from planning and lifecycle improvements to performance analysis and reporting.

Your Role in Action

  • Leadership: Guide and support your team to achieve business goals while fostering a culture of growth and innovation.
  • Strategic Asset Management: Develop and implement investments and maintenance programs in alignment with asset management strategies and business objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Performance Oversight: Monitor team performance, monitor delivery performance, manage OPEX and CAPEX program delivery, and ensure compliance with governance processes.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Analyse asset performance and delivery performance data to inform decision-making and produce impactful reports.
  • Continuous Improvement: Establish feedback loops and leverage fieldwork outcomes to refine asset strategies.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide critical support for network planning and regulatory submissions. Support the development and systematization of work programs (OPEX and CAPEX) by optimizing the use of portfolio management tools (e.g., P6, OPPM) and Enterprise Asset Management systems (e.g., Ellipse). Your efforts will help ensure efficient planning, tracking, and delivery of critical projects.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Degree in Engineering, eligible for Professional Engineer membership (MIEAust) with Engineers Australia OR
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline with broad and extensive Asset Performance knowledge and expertise in Asset Management
  • Recognised Asset Management certification
  • 10+ years comprehensive broad commerce experience and asset management knowledge and expertise
  • Knowledge and understanding of recognised Asset Management Frameworks and systems
  • Experience in leading, scheduling and developing teams
  • Demonstrated ability in successfully implementing change and innovation
  • Demonstrated ability in continuous improvement and innovation in the management of physical assets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
