About the role
Bistro Penny is seeking experienced Senior Chefs to join our team at our restaurant in Newcastle, NSW. This is a full-time position, and you will play a key role in overseeing the kitchen operations and menu development.
What you'll be doing
- Manage and lead a team of chefs to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our customers
- Help create and develop innovative seasonal menus that showcase the best local produce alongside Chef Joel Humphreys
- Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency
- Oversee the efficient running of the kitchen, including inventory management and budget control
- Train and mentor junior chefs to develop their skills and expertise
- Collaborate with the front-of-house team to provide an outstanding customer service
What we're looking for
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Senior Chef or similar role in a reputable restaurant or hospitality establishment
- Formal culinary training and qualifications, such as a Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery
- Excellent knowledge of food preparation, plating techniques and menu design
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a kitchen team
- Proficiency in cost control, inventory management and budgeting
- Passion for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and creating visually appealing, delicious dishes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with both the kitchen and front-of-house teams
