Graduate Geologist – Open Pit

• 8on/6off FIFO roster from Perth
Meeka Metals is building Western Australia’s newest gold mine and requires a Graduate Geologist to join our Open Pit Operations working FIFO ex Perth on 8 days on 6 days off (Monday to Monday) rotation.
Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, the Graduate Geologist will develop the skill to enable the implementation of quality mine geology services. The role will involve working collaboratively with the broader Mining Team to maximise return for the operation.
Under supervision from the Geology Superintendent or Mine Geologist, the Graduate Geologist will assist with the planning, management and processing of all aspects of mine geology including in pit ore mark ups, ore spotting and grade control and near-mine exploratory drilling within defined areas for the Murchison Project.
Key learning and responsibilities will include:
- Ensure daily grade control requirements are met including drilling, ore mark-ups, in pit mapping/sampling and the efficient extraction of ore through ore spotting processes.
- Assess ore block for geological risk and liaise with the Mine Geologist to mitigate risk with grade control activities
- Learn how to schedule, plan and implement grade control and exploratory drilling programs.
- Assist the Mine Geologist with preparation of drill sites for exploration and grade control drilling programs. Inclusive of regular inspections and audits of drill sites to reinforce a focus on safety.
- Geological logging of both RC chips and diamond core to a consistent and high standard.
- Assisting with daily data entry, tracking of ore and waste movements
- Assist the Geology Technician to process RC samples and core as required.
- Co-ordinate with the Mining Contractor, Haulage Contractor, and Processing Coordinator for efficient ore pad parcel delivery on the MOP and ROM pads.
- Completion of stockpile inspection and link in observations with mine-to-mill performance.
- Learn from the Engineers how ore blocking designs can be optimized to reduce dilution and improve recovery.
- Provide a strong contribution to the site safety culture and programs and encourage others do the same
Key factors to your success include;
- Geology tertiary qualification.
- Experience in the Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Developed numeracy, written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive attitude and a willingness to develop knowledge.
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills essential.
- A demonstrated commitment to a strong safety culture and safe work practices.
- Ability to work with a team harmoniously.

- The ability to work independently and unsupervised.
- Current police clearance
- Current unencumbered C Western Australian Drivers License.
- Previous gold experience as an Underground or Open pit Graduate Geologist is desirable
About Meeka Metals Limited:
The Company is currently developing its flagship Murchison Gold Project, 50km north of Meekatharra. The project is a combined open pit and underground gold mining operation with an initial 10-year mine life. Site activities are ramping up now with construction underway. Open pit mining commenced in March 2025, first ore extraction expected in April 2025. Underground drilling for extension at depth is planned for mid 2025 for Andy Well underground mine.
