This role provides autonomous clinical practise in technical and hazardous environments, whilst leading or participating in multi-agency teams. Undertake complex decision making, and accept responsibility, to ensure appropriate, safe, timely and effective co-ordination of state resources to deliver best practice in rescue, response and clinical care. Provide subject matter expertise (SME) in complex statewide, hazardous and high-risk settings. The role responds and provides critical care as part of a doctor/paramedic team.

Key Responsibilities:
To ensure the safety of resources in high-risk environments such as helicopter scenes, technical rescues, and hazardous incidents. This includes providing expert technical support, advising on operational matters, interpreting and implementing policies, and leading special operations training and clinical reviews to develop staff professionally.
Apply clinical guidelines effectively, balancing clinical outcomes with patient safety. This includes contributing to treatment pathways, using evidence-based decision-making, and performing dynamic risk assessments to ensure the safety of oneself, colleagues, and patients.
Maintaining clinical expertise as a Rescue Paramedic by fulfilling annual credentialing requirements, participating in professional development workshops, and undertaking case reviews.
Effective use and management of resources for patient treatment, rescue, and transport, while meeting performance standards for air and clearance times.
Participate in and manage major incidents, counter-disasters, and special operations, including patient care and transportation.
Apply clinical judgment while maintaining high standards of service, efficiency, and integrity to meet community needs.
Address and understand the specific needs of special needs groups, contribute to appropriate patient treatment pathways for ongoing care, and work collaboratively with other medical professionals within an integrated community health system.
Participate in the development and review of policies and procedures for rescue practices, support change initiatives, and contribute to a research-driven culture. This includes identifying areas for improvement, providing feedback using quality improvement frameworks, and fostering productive working relationships, including conflict resolution.
Adhere to SAAS and SA Health clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures. This includes participating in the maintenance and training of equipment used in special operations and ensuring personal professional development by maintaining relevant clinical and operational certifications.
