The Opportunity
The Regulation Directorate sits within the Transport Policy and Regulation Division and is responsible for driving the Government’s regulation and policy initiatives and ensuring appropriate compliance, behaviour and safe access across our transport networks.
The Manager, Rider Safe is responsible for overseeing the effective and efficient delivery of the Rider Safe motor bike training and assessment program for the issue of motor bike learner’s permits and licences across the State.
Accountable to the Manager, Driver Licensing Standards, the role provides leadership and guidance on technical, operational, and administrative services for Rider Safe. This includes managing a team of Ride Safe Instructors and Administration support to ensure that all on-range and on-road courses and assessments are conducted as approved by the Registrar of Motor Vehicles (the Registrar), with a strong focus on road safety.
The role also has responsibility for ensuring the Rider Safe program is reviewed and where necessary adjusted to meet contemporary standards of riding, training, assessment, and safety, that it aligns with regulatory requirements, and operates within budget.

Requirements
- Experience in riding motor bikes is desirable.
- Experience in training and assessment is desirable.
- Strong leadership and team management skills are highly desirable.
Special Conditions
Prior to employment with the Department the successful candidate will be required to provide:
- A National Police Check (NPC) which must be renewed every three years.
- A Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
Tenure of Vacancy
Temporary appointment up to 2 years.
Remuneration
ASO6 - $98,478 to $104,165 pa + superannuation.
