Description:
We are seeking an experienced information management professional to lead the planning and delivery of key Information Management projects and initiatives to ensure a secure, compliant, and reliable information management landscape. The Manager Information Services plays a vital role in the effective management of information throughout its lifecycle and ensure that Reef Authority’s information is collected, stored, and shared in a way that supports its operations. The position is required to oversee the management of various information systems for Records, Digital Library, and Imagery services, in support of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority’s legislative requirements.
This position is responsible for guiding and mentoring a small team of employees to deliver information services, ensuring alignment with the Reef Authority business objectives, and complying with Government frameworks and Reef Authority’s policies, practices and procedures. You will provide advice and support to develop staff knowledge and application of better information management practices.
The key duties of the position include:- Manage a small team to deliver modern information management initiatives, products, and services to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and implement a system of policies, procedures, and specific projects with a focus on continuous improvement of service delivery to meet the current and future needs of the Reef Authority and ensure legislative compliance.
- Manage the Reef Authority’s information contained in e-repository, science e-library and various information systems.
- Undertake engagement with areas of the Reef Authority to determine information needs and review the range of services provided to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and training to Reef Authority staff to ensure compliance and quality assurance in the use of Reef Authority’s information systems to support a culture of continuous improvement in information management.
- Provide expert advice in digital library, information systems and service delivery.

Essential requirements
- Demonstrated experience in modern information management, including records, knowledge, and document control in small organisations.
- Demonstrated experience with relevant knowledge of legislation, standards, policies, and procedures, such as Archive Act 1983, Public Records Act 2023 and ISO 15489.
- Demonstrated experience with contemporary information management systems and tools.
- Must be eligible to hold a professional membership to the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
Desirable qualifications or equivalent experience
- Hold a degree equivalent in library and information science.
- Occupation specific skills (digital and ICT)
