Are you a passionate and experienced chef looking to take the lead in a thriving café environment? Our Café, located within the bustling Mater Hospital precinct, is looking for a Full-Time Café Chef to join our dynamic team.
About the Role:
As the Café Chef, you will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring high standards in food quality, consistency, and presentation. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced café setting and enjoys both the creativity and the structure of kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily food preparation and cooking in a busy café kitchen
- Prepare meals for dine-in and display fridges with a focus on freshness and presentation
- Assist front-of-house staff during peak service times as needed
- Create daily specials
- Perform monthly stocktakes and manage inventory effectively
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure equipment is well cared for
- Monitor and control food waste to support sustainable practices
- Always adhere to food safety and hygiene standards
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a café kitchen as a chef
- Strong multitasking skills
- Solid understanding of food costing and portion control
- Creative flair for café-style dishes and food presentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of HACCP and kitchen compliance procedures
- A positive attitude and professional approach to work
