About The Facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
Barwon Health is partnering with the Department of Justice and Community Safety to provide the health care service at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre. Cherry Creek is a 140 bed Youth Justice Facility to the west of Werribee in the vicinity of Cherry Creek that accommodates males between 15-17 years of age, both sentenced and on remand.
The services delivered will include emergency response (with support from the Barwon Health Virtual ED), primary care beds, integrated mental health, drug and alcohol services, allied health, general practice and specialist medical care as required. There will be 24/7 nursing coverage on-site as well as a 7-days a week primary care clinic. Diagnostic (pathology and imaging) and pharmacy will also be available on site.
The health care will be integrated in the operations of the Centre and will primarily operate from a state of the art purpose built health facility.
The team will deliver best practice culture, processes and operations. This is how we will ensure Cherry Creek will enhance the outcomes we achieve for the young people in our care and the community.
About The Role
As the visiting medical officer you will:
Provide outpatient services for young people at Cherry CreekInform the current and future design of the health care service at Cherry CreekTo supervise junior staff training in paediatrics, emergency medicine or general practiceEnsure that young people under your care are treated with care, compassion, dignity and respect at all times and without compromiseEnsure that clinical care provided is to the expected Department of Health and Department of Justice and Community Safety standards
