Our business continues to be an industry leader in performing certification auditing services to the red meat and livestock industry and the broader agriculture industry including horticulture, poultry & eggs, food safety, animal welfare and social and ethical compliance.

As a Field Auditor – Meat Standards, you will play a crucial role in our mission by performing comprehensive, high-quality audits for the meat production industry.

We are committed to setting our Field Auditors up for success. You will receive support from our experienced and industry respected team members, along with all the necessary resources and training to excel in your role.

What you'll be doing

This role is a WFH/mobile role where you can work from home and attend client sites across Queensland, with some travel interstate as required (such as training, conferences, or audits).

Due to significant travel involved, it is recommended that you reside in or near South East Queensland. Generally, for travel, expect 4 out of 5 days or 8 out of 10 days at audit sites.

Every day will bring new and exciting challenges on the job while you:

  • Conduct audit processes in compliance with documented program standards and procedures;
  • Provide timely, accurate and complete audit plans and reports;
  • Escalate issues in a timely manner;
  • Build positive client relationships and progressing the AUS-MEAT reputation through excellent service an integrity;
  • Submit invoicing and costing data in line with expectations;
  • Plan and maintain up to date audit schedules;
  • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders and head office; and
  • Maintain industry and program knowledge, updating interpersonal and meta-skills for auditing effectively, and ensuring report writing expectations are met.

Initially you will commence auditing for AUS-MEAT Accreditation and Non-Packer Exporter programs, with career development and training for other audit programs such as BRCGS (Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards) and North American (Aldi Meat, AAWCS, Costco Meat, McDonalds Beef, North American, Woolworths Meat, WQA).

A little about you

You are passionate about the red meat industry and have ideally progressed from on-floor experience in slaughter floor, boning room and food service (meat) to Quality Assurance within the meat production industry.

As a Field Auditor, it is essential that you hold, or are prepared to gain the following certifications:

  • Lead Auditor Food Safety
  • External HACCP (principles & applications)
  • Chemical User (ChemCert)
  • Registered Auditor with Exemplar Global

If you don’t yet have these certifications but are the right fit for the role, we will assist you in obtaining them.

It would be beneficial to have knowledge and skills in one or more of the following industry standards:

  • AUS-MEAT Accreditation (AUS-MEAT and Chiller Assessment language)
  • Meat Standards Australia (MSA)
  • Non-Packer Exporter
  • Animal Welfare
  • Approved Arrangement Guidelines

We are looking for a self-motivated, organized individual who can work independently with remote technical support. Proficiency in digital platforms and portals is essential, along with clear, professional writing skills and comfort with typing reports or using electronic forms.

Strong interpersonal communication skills are necessary to build professional relationships and provide developmental feedback. A commitment to continual learning and effective time management is also important.

Vaccinations and Additional Information

At AUS-MEAT, we prioritize safety.

  • You are required to provide evidence of your Q fever status (immunity/vaccination).
  • A clear National Police Check is required.
  • You need to hold a current unrestricted Australian driver licence.
