Description:
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Parks & Reserves at our Operations facility, this position is responsible for the delivery of arboricultural assessment and advice which involves inspection of Council Trees and report writing, customer interaction, contract management and educating various stakeholders about City of Darwin’s Tree Management Plan.
The role is required to develop and implement arboricultural assessment programs, lead improvements in City of Darwin Arboricultural management practices, develop arboricultural plans and reports and recommend and oversee tree health care activities.
As a member of the team, you will be expected to lead by example and demonstrate a consistent and dedicated focus to all key result areas required by the section. Your average day will be a combination of: -
- Program and coordinate the day-to-day operations relating to arboricultural assessments.
- Manage and maintain the collection and management of tree inventory data.
- Liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders on arboriculture matters.
You will be required to work Monday to Friday, generally from 7.00am to 4.15pm with an occasional requirement to be available for weekend work. The position has a base salary of $81,784.41 - $92,801.79 per year plus superannuation. City of Darwin also provides generous leave entitlements such as 6 weeks annual leave, 15 days personal leave and a paid RDO each month.

Appointment to Level 4 or Level 5 will be based on qualifications and experience:
Level 4 (AQF3)
- Certificate III in Arboriculture
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience
- Possession of High-Risk Work Licence – Elevated Work Platform
- General Construction Industry – White Card
- Current Class C Vehicle Licence
Level 5 (AQF5)
- Diploma in Arboriculture
- Minimum of 5 years’ equivalent industry relevant experience
- Qualifications in an industry recognised tree risk methodology (e.g. QTRA, TRAQ)
- Possession of High-Risk Work Licence – Elevated Work Platform
- General Construction Industry – White Card
- Current Class C Vehicle Licence
If appointed at Level 4, completion of the Diploma in Arboriculture is expected within 3 years of employment and will be supported by Council.
