- About the Role
As our Public Relations Officer, you will play a key role in shaping the Council’s communications and public engagement efforts. You will be responsible for managing media relations, producing high-quality publications, maintaining the Council’s website and social media platforms, and coordinating community events across the region.
This role requires travel to remote communities within the Barkly Regional Council area and occasional overnight stays.
- The Essentials
- Experience in developing and implementing a successful media and communication strategy
- Experience in the provision of high-quality social media content, website management, and other communication mediums such as newsletters and public documents
- Ability to work with computer software packages.
- Current National Police Criminal History Check (within the last 3 months).
- Current Northern Territory Working with Children Check (Ochre Card).
- Current Driver’s Licence with 4WD remote area skills.

- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content for different audiences.
- You have a proactive, creative, and strategic mindset withs strong attention to detail.
- You have the ability to plan and execute events, with strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.

- Full-Time position paying Level 8 Pay Point 1 of the Barkly Regional Council Enterprise Agreement 2023.
- Annual Salary of $87,014.91 per annum ($3,346.73 gross per fortnight).
- Tennant Creek Zone Allowance of $1.89 per ordinary hour.
- 11.5% Superannuation.
- Annual Leave of 6 weeks paid with 17.5% Leave Loading.

Barkly Regional Council requires that all applicants have a National Criminal History Check. You will be required to provide a recent National Criminal History Check prior to any offer of employment.
Barkly Regional Council requires the applicant to be able to produce or be able to obtain a Working with Children Check Northern Territory (Ochre Card) prior to commencement.
