About the role

The role of Ranger is responsible for providing the local community with an effective regulatory service that meets statutory obligations and reduce adverse impacts on the local area by enforcing applicable legislation and Council’s policies. This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate IV qualification in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or demonstrated experience, combined with ongoing professional development.
  • Current Class C drivers License.
  • Valid Construction General Induction Card - NSW Workcover or equivalent to have a willingness to obtain
  • Accreditation to undertake micro chipping of animals
  • Demonstrated experience of being able to work as part of a team and autonomously, undertake duties in a professional, consistent manner to corporate requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with staff and the public
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting investigations, interviewing offenders and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in dog, cat, cattle and horse handling
  • Demonstrated experience in Ranger duties, policing or similar regulatory position

Other important information

  • The commencing salary for this position is up to $72,715. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $86,563 on completion of assessment of skills and performance 11.5% superannuation
  • Successful candidates will be required to have vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus.

A leaseback vehicle is provided in this role for official duties and private use and your choice of vehicle will be provided when one becomes available in accordance with Council’s Vehicle Policy. In the meantime, either an alternate pre-used vehicle or a vehicle allowance of $200 per week ($10,450 per annum) is temporarily applied for this position due to ongoing issues with supply for new vehicles.

Council will be creating an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
