The role

This role is dedicated to facilitating the recovery journey of adults experiencing alcohol and drug dependence, providing compassionate support as they work toward sustained healing and personal transformation.

Our residential services offer a 12-week structured rehabilitation program designed to empower individuals in reclaiming their lives from the effects of substance dependence. Through an integrated, evidence-based approach, we provide intensive therapeutic interventions within a safe, supportive, and home-like environment.

In this role, you will foster meaningful connections between clients and essential support services, addressing key areas such as family dynamics, interpersonal relationships, and overall emotional and physical well-being.

With a holistic, client-centered approach, you will guide individuals through every stage of their recovery journey, delivering trauma-informed case management that enhances resilience, self-efficacy, and long-term independence. You will facilitate group activities to deliver our core program of pathways.

Your expertise in case management and therapeutic support will be fundamental in facilitating meaningful change, empowering clients to build fulfilling, substance-free lives.

This is a Permanent, Part-time (30.4 hours per week) role in Townsville , situated in a 24-hour residential facility. You will have a variety of shifts that include days, afternoons, nights, and weekends.


To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:
• Minimum Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD)
• Knowledge of and ability to work within relevant legislation and guidelines relating to the delivery of case management and safety and risk within the program area of operation
• Previous experience as a Support Worker or equivalent within the program area of operation
• Personal aptitude for working within set guidelines and adhering to all relevant policies and procedures
• Well-developed interpersonal, communication and organisation skills including the ability to exercise judgement and contribute to a team environment
• Ability to deliver advocacy on behalf of clients and ensure confidentiality of client information at all times
• Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
• COVID-19 vaccination status is recommended for this role but not a mandatory requirement.
• Valid Drivers Licence is required
