The Transport Analytics directorate enables efficient and effective decision making by partnering to create and embed products and insights that lead to better outcomes for users of the South Australian Transport System. We lead department analytics capability and contribute to transforming how data is managed and used.
The Opportunity
The Manager, Data Engineering and Data Science is accountable to the Director, Transport Analytics for leading the establishment and integration of best practices in data engineering, data architecture and data science. This includes building a platform that supports the development and implementation of customer focused data products and services.
The incumbent will apply their comprehensive knowledge of data engineering, data architecture and data science to enable analytical transformation across the organisation; with the ultimate goal being to effectively and efficiently operationalise the use of trends, patterns and insights within new and existing decision-making processes to the benefit of people in South Australia.
The Manager, Data Engineering and Data Science leads a dedicated and professional team and is required to drive a positive and collaborative performance culture in alignment with Departmental values.

Qualifications/Experience
Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field (e.g. data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, Information Technology or engineering).
Certification in cloud analytics environments are desirable.
Technical Capabilities
Highly developed understanding of data science and engineering with a specific focus on utilising cloud technologies to fulfill these functions.
Strong ability to code effectively and efficiently in languages appropriate to data engineering and science tasks e.g. SQL/Python.
Special Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
Remuneration
MAS3 - $127,859 pa + superannuation.
