We are currently seeking qualified Allied Health Assistants to work on weekend shifts to support patient care our inpatient units. This role will be multidisciplinary, working with Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Speech Pathology, DIetetics and Podiatry. It is anticipated that the shifts will be 4 hours in length on Saturdays and Sunday mornings and there is some flexibility for applicants to nominate the shifts and frequency of shifts that they would prefer to work. Allied Health Assistants with previous experience working with some or all of these allied health disciplines in hospital settings are encouraged to apply.


The Grade Two Allied Health Assistant is responsible for the provision of Allied Health Assistant Services within a designated clinical caseload, appropriate to their level of experience and competency. Grade Two level Allied Health Assistants are required work under the supervision of an Allied Health Professional, either indirectly or directly, within the interdisciplinary team.


The purpose of this position is to:

  • provide best practice client centred clinical care to clients within the designated inpatient caseload
  • support enhanced allied health patient care and flow in inpatient settings on weekends, primarily focusing on the medical units
  • support patient prioritisation through liaising with medical units and allied health clinicians and completing screening of allied health referrals
  • perform tasks delegated by allied health clinicians within the multidisciplinary team.
  • where required, Allied Health clinicians may be rostered to work on weekends and public holidays
  • contribute to the development of the allied health service, as well as the general allied health department as appropriate.
