Queen Victoria Care, a trusted aged care provider in Southern Tasmania, is seeking a values-driven and visionary Director of Nursing to lead our clinical and care teams.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Nursing (DoN) is responsible for overseeing the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred clinical and residential care services in accordance with the Aged Care Quality Standards, legislative requirements, and best practice frameworks.

The DoN will lead, mentor, and inspire a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, carers, allied health professionals, and clinical leaders while embedding a culture of continuous quality improvement, accountability, and innovation. A strong focus will be placed on optimising care delivery and documentation aligned with the AN-ACC funding model to ensure residents’ needs are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of clinical governance, compliance, accreditation, and quality systems

  • Drive clinical excellence and embed person-centred, evidence-based care models

  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements, including the Aged Care Quality Standards

  • Oversee incident management, clinical audits, infection prevention, restrictive practices, and medication safety

  • Lead the effective implementation and oversight of AN-ACC funding to ensure optimal resourcing, accurate documentation, and maximised funding outcomes

  • Champion workforce capability development, supervision, and performance management for clinical staff

  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to contribute to strategic planning and organisational performance

  • Lead initiatives to enhance resident experience, safety, and health outcomes

  • Foster collaborative partnerships with families, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies

  • Drive excellence in palliative and end-of-life care, ensuring residents and families are supported with compassion. empathy and dignity

  • Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture aligned with QVC’s values

About You

You are a passionate and experienced clinical leader who thrives in a values-based environment. You bring a deep understanding of aged care, an unwavering commitment to clinical governance, and the ability to engage and lead diverse teams through change with integrity and vision.

Essential Criteria:

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior clinical leadership or Director of Nursing role within Aged Care

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards, clinical governance, and risk management principles

  • Proven experience in leading teams, mentoring staff, and driving service excellence

  • High-level interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Strong understanding of financial, operational, and human resource management within a clinical environment

  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and foster innovation in a dynamic setting

  • Sound knowledge of accreditation processes and quality improvement systems

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Health Management, Gerontology, or similar

  • Experience in managing complex care environments and transitions of care

  • Understanding of contemporary models of aged care and palliative care frameworks
