Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a sub-regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire. CGH is located in the City of Sale which is 215 km east of Melbourne. The City of Sale is an ideal access point for the magnificent Gippsland Lakes, 90 Mile Beach and the Victorian Alps.

CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield). Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.

CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.

About Department

The Pharmacy Department is located at the Sale Central Gippsland Health hospital. You will be working in a dynamic hospital pharmacy environment as part of a diverse team which includes pharmacists, pharmacy interns and experienced pharmacy technicians. You will be involved in providing specialised services in clinical inpatient and outpatient areas, medicines information, quality use of medication, clinical trials.

About the Role

The Lead Education Pharmacist is will be responsible for providing education and support to pharmacy staff, including technicians, interns and pharmacist. The Education pharmacist will also be heavily involved in planning and providing training and education sessions to hospital staff and patients.

Our pharmacists are currently involved in a diverse range of functions including Oncology, Haematology, rural outreach services, acute Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Paediatric, Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as taking an active role in education and quality improvement projects across the health service.

This role can be performed remotely and does not require attendance at Central Gippsland Health.

Duties

  • Managing and conducting the pharmacy internship program with our intern

  • Leading the Residency Program at CGHS, and conducting necessary educational activities with our resident pharmacist

  • Writing and giving education to pharmacy and hospital staff

  • Promoting excellence in patient-centred care by ensuring staff are educated on medication safety principles and able to apply and optimise medication management to achieve the best outcomes for each patient

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Current AHPRA Pharmacy Registration and Membership with a Professional Indemnity Insurance provider.

  • Communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of hospital staff.

  • Always having a patient focused approach, with a goal of achieving excellence in care.

  • Ability to be adaptable to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative team environment.
