Our client who are a leading Australian manufacturer are seeking a skilled Process / Industrial Engineer to support the next phase of its operational growth. This business operates a fully automated production facility and supplies high-quality products to both domestic and international markets. With ongoing capital projects and process optimisation initiatives underway, this is a key role within the engineering team.
About the role

As a Process / Industrial Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of the plant’s automated systems, electrical infrastructure, and project delivery. Working closely with operations and maintenance teams, you will be responsible for troubleshooting electrical and control system issues, optimising preventative maintenance strategies, and driving process improvements. The role also includes overseeing capital projects, maintaining critical spare parts inventory, and liaising with external contractors for automation and electrical upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical engineering activities, troubleshooting control system faults to minimise downtime.
  • Implement and manage a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to enhance preventative maintenance.
  • Drive capital projects, focusing on electrical infrastructure, automation upgrades, and process improvements .
  • Act as the technical interface between PLC programming and operations , resolving automation challenges.
  • Maintain accurate electrical drawings in collaboration with external contractors.
  • Support new equipment installations, including current major capital projects.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and continuous improvement systems.

Skills & Experience
Essential:
  • Electrical qualifications with experience in electrical design, I/O systems, and PLC control .
  • Strong understanding of automation in a PLC/SCADA-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience managing capital projects , particularly in automation and electrical infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues .
  • Experience implementing and managing CMMS programs .
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work across engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
Preferred:
  • Industry experience in food-grade manufacturing or oilseed processing.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and quality assurance in a production environment.
  • Exposure to 24/7 automated manufacturing and sustainability initiatives.
