CAGNEY TENNIS ACADEMY has an exciting opportunity for an experienced tennis coach across it’s 5 centres in beautiful Newcastle / Lake Macquarie. Boasting all sorts of beaches, cafes, restaurants, tourist attractions, a vibrant attractive city, a slower pace & cheaper living than Sydney / Melbourne, the 6th biggest city in Australia, Newcastle provides a wonderful lifestyle and excellent opportunities for the successful applicant.This is a full time position that will provide a great work life balance and a LONG TERM FUTURE for a career minded professional coach. With the business being in a growth phase, we anticipate the position will suit someone looking for a great job, with minimal stress and a relaxed, enjoyable workplace environment, where team work is encouraged.
The position is Monday – Friday, plus Saturday mornings, with NO Sunday work, and very minimal administration duties.
Role Responsibilities:
- Managing and professionally delivering our program with the goal of creating a fun, inclusive and stimulating playing environment for players of all ages and levels. Relevant training and guidance will be provided as required.
- Facilitate school clinics and holiday programs.
- Build quality coaching relationships with players, the club, parents as well as your coaching team.
- Help develop and improve the coaching program and model coaching practices that maximise retention.

- Group Lessons (Junior and Adult)
- Private Lessons
- Development Squads
- School Programs
- Cardio Tennis
- Basic administration in a fast-growing business that now requires more help.
Essential Attributes:
- Tennis Australia coach member or ATPCA, AATC (or be willing to obtain, as well as provide proof of adequate insurance)
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current National Police Check
- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Minimum three years’ experience in lieu of formal coaching qualifications
Preferred Attributes:
- Experienced and high quality Hot Shots deliverer – this is the grass roots level of every successful program and we are looking for a boost in the quality of delivery.
- The ability to work with a team of coaches, as well as oversee the team of assistant coaches at some of our centres when the Head Coach is working at another centre.
- Customer Relations – the ability to liaise with clients regarding lessons, comps, court hire, social tennis, and generally building / farming our network to provide extra income opportunities for the business which in turn will result in more $$ for the coach in terms of bonuses.
- Well mannered, articulate, well presented.
- Professional, high personal standards, punctual, works with integrity.
- Attention to detail and excellent follow up skills as well as INITIATIVE (an often undervalued attribute)
- Australian Drivers Licence & Registered Vehicle
- Fluent English

We are looking for a coach who can commit to the long term future of Cagney Tennis Academy and sees a future / career within the coaching industry. The ideal applicant will come into our business and look to expand on our programs and clientele, and be financially rewarded for this. We are looking to build on our already expanding academy but need the assistance of another professional and experienced coach.
