We are seeking an experienced and motivated professional with confident leadership skills, excellence in time management and communication to join our growing team as Senior Architect on a full-time basis to lead all designs from our Newcastle office .
About the Role:
As a Senior Architect, you will be responsible for leading our external drafting team whilst concurrently building a self-performing internal design team across NSW and QLD to deliver seamless, detailed and accurate construction drawings while driving process improvement.
On average you will be responsible for the design of approximately 70 projects per annum across a range of sectors including renovations, secondary dwellings, custom homes and duplex projects.
With assistance from the external drafting teams, you will be responsible for the concept design and construction documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, including estimating, and construction to streamline workflows and enhance project efficiency.
The Head of Design role will have a high level of autonomy in designing and present the most optimal outcome that fits a prescribed budget. Critically the design outcomes will be your responsibility and thus will require regular site inspections to produce on-the-go construction detail to enable continuation of works onsite.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design on renovations, secondary dwellings, custom homes and duplex projects.

Lead the design team as Head of Design, providing your unique aesthetic to a arrange of different projects in NSW and QLD.

Oversee the production of detailed construction drawings in line with company and regulatory requirements by reviewing and checking plans prepared by external drafting teams

Undertake site measures to enable the production of drawings for renovation projects.

Improve the drafting processes to minimise the construction team’s on-site design.

Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, council regulations, and industry standards.

Maintain a high level of quality control, identifying and resolving potential drafting issues.

Implement and manage drafting software and technology to enhance productivity.
Skills and Experience:

Minimum 8 years’ experience as a qualified residential architect

Proficiency in ArchiCAD, or similar drafting software.

Maintain a strong understanding of legislation, Development Control Plans (DCP), Local Environmental Plans (LEP), the National Construction Code (NCC), and Australian Standards (AS) relevant to Class 1 single and multi-dwelling projects.

Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This is a full time role working 5 days a week in our Newcastle Office. You must have full time, permanent working rights in Australia to be eligible for this position and access to a vehicle 2-3 days a week.
