Children's Choice Early Education Centre is a family-owned service, that appreciates their staff for the amazing job that they do. We are in a refurbished purpose-built centre with extra-large rooms and playgrounds.
We are looking for an amazing Chef/ Cook to work at our service on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will be supporting the management of the day-to-day operations of the kitchen.
This is a part- time position. Monday - Friday, no weekend or late shifts!
The Chef’s role:
• be prepare, cook and present a wide variety of nutritious foods on time that are suitable for new born children to 6 years for breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, including the preparation of purees and special dietary meals. Also food for before and after school care children.
• engage in menu planning, in accordance with the centre's nutrition policy and guidelines, including catering for children with allergy, intolerance and religious requirements;
• be working in line with budgets and local suppliers
• maintain a clean and safe kitchen, in accordance with Food and Council Authority requirements.
• Coordinating meal service, Food Safety Documentation and Allergy Management
Job requirements:
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery preferred but not essential
• Current food handling certificate or willingness to obtain
• Current food supervisor certificate or willing to obtain (this can be paid for by the service)
• Current blue card or willing to apply, approved first aid, anaphylaxis and asthma qualifications
• Experience with menu planning and nutrition
• Previous experience running a kitchen, cooking in childcare or similar catering environment would be advantageous
• You will be a reliable, positive and a well organised person
• You will have excellent time management skills and be confident in managing a kitchen
