THE ROLE
We are looking for a Senior Substation Design Engineer to oversee the design, development and implementation of electrical substations. This role includes overseeing the technical aspects of projects from conception through commissioning, ensuring compliance with industry standards and providing expertise in substation systems, protection and equipment. An element of this role will entail mentoring junior engineers to uplift capability within the project team. Previous experience delivering complex high voltage grid connection projects as well as developing detailed protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams and layout drawings for substation projects will be essential.
Day to day you will perform complex engineering analyses, including fault studies, relay coordination studies and transient stability analyses as well as reviewing and preparing all engineering designs and documentation. As our SME, leverage your expertise to provide guidance in the design and specification of substation protection schemes including relay settings, coordination and testing, ensuring compliance with industry standards (IEEE, IEC, NERC, etc.) and local codes.
ABOUT YOU
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering acceptable for membership of Institution of Engineers Australia in Professional Engineering
· Professional Engineer (PE) license and valid Australian Drivers Licence essential
· 8+ years of experience in substation protection and control engineering
· Strong knowledge of protection schemes, relay settings, and coordination.
· Proficiency in protection and control design and analysis software (e.g., SEL AcSELerator, ASPEN, ETAP).
· Construction White Card (or willingness to obtain)
· RPEQ will be looked upon favorably
