headspace Launceston incorporates a range of innovative specialist youth services offered to young people aged 12-25 in the North and North East of Tasmania.
We are currently seeking a full time Senior Mental Health Clinician to work from the headspace Launceston site (Part time hours would be considered for the right candidate). The Senior Mental Health Clinician will work alongside the Clinical Lead to provide clinical leadership and direction to the clinical team, ensuring the day-to-day service delivery is safe and effective in meeting the needs of young people aged 12-25. The position will involve the supervision of staff and will carry a caseload.
Under the direction of the Clinical Lead and headspace Launceston Centre Manager you will work as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Undertaking brief and comprehensive bio-psychological assessments to determine appropriate service pathways for young people experiencing mild to moderate mental ill health

Provide evidence based psychological interventions, that are culturally appropriate for both groups and individuals.

Deliver psychosocial education and groupwork to young people, families/caregivers and community groups.

What you’ll need
Approved tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing or Occupational Therapy.

Social Worker with current membership OR eligibility for registration with AASW, Psychologist (full or provisional), Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Nurse with AHPRA registration.

Significant experience in a relevant field.

Competence or potential to demonstrate provision of a full range of mental health services including mental state examinations and psychological assessments.

Highly developed skills in managing risk and providing individual, family and group interventions for young people presenting with a broad range of issues.

Ability to engage with young people and their families holistically.

Ability to engage with relevant stakeholders to advocate and support access for young people.
Desirable
-
Previous experience working in the youth mental health sector and/or primary healthcare environment.
