Permanent, part-time position based in Hobart CBD (64 hours per fortnight)
Anglicare Tasmania is a non-profit organisation providing a wide range of community services to the people of Tasmania. We are part of the national Anglicare Australia network of organisations. Anglicare advocates for social justice and aids people in times of need. We provide programs relating to health, housing, families, drug and alcohol treatment and support and more.
About the Role:
This is a ‘live-in’ role. The successful applicant must remain on site for the duration of their shifts.
It includes an 8-hour work day (9.00am to 5.00pm) and being on call (5.00pm to 9.00am the next morning with a 24-Hour shift loading applicable).
The role works 8 days (64 hours) a fortnight - roster below.
Week 1: Monday, Thursday, Friday
Week 2: Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Our Facility Supervisor is responsible for the day to day running of our Campbell Street Youth 2 Independence (Y2I) facility. Duties include tenancy management (signing and managing issues related to leases), minor maintenance (including cleaning of communal areas, office spaces and vacated units), ensuring the property is kept clean and tidy and providing limited assistance to residents in an on-call capacity out of hours.
The successful applicant will possess demonstrable competency, knowledge, understanding and/or skills in the following areas:
- knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues relating to homelessness such as: poverty, unemployment, health, family violence, substance use and other social factors which impact on vulnerable or at-risk people;
- understanding of Tasmania’s current housing market and the difficulties facing low income people trying to secure housing;
- Concepts of social justice, social inclusion and empowerment and their application to practice.
- assisting people who are experiencing disadvantage including reflective practice;
- high level interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively engage with young people and a range of stakeholders including real estate agents;
- mediation and conflict resolution processes;
- basic maintenance property skills (minor repairs such as, replacing light bulbs, unblocking drains, cleaning guttering, minor painting jobs and liaising with Anglicare maintenance crews to facilitate major maintenance tasks);
- experience working in a communal living facility is preferred;
- First Aid certificate (we can arrange training).

The successful applicant will be required to:
- provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment/volunteer category) including NDIS Worker Screening Check;
- present an unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable people type National Police Check (no older than 12 months);
- provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;
- provide a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical:
- provide a current provisional or full Australian Driver Licence.
On commencement the successful applicant will be required to undertake our structured Safeguarding Children Training program.
