Eligibility to Apply: To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments).

Position Profile: The Scientific Officer co-ordinates, investigates, monitors & reports on the mosquito-borne disease surveillance activities including regular field surveys, mosquito identification, managing the sentinel chicken program and other specific projects relating to the surveillance of mosquito-borne disease in WA. This role assists with administration of the Biological and Applied Environmental Health Hazards Unit of the DOH. In addition you will provide expert technical support and advice to the public on mosquitoes and other arthropods of public health significance, arthropod-borne diseases and control strategies.
