Job Description

YOUR ROLE


The Senior Employee Relations Advisor is a full-time, ongoing role within MACS. This position is central to the Employee Relations Team, which provides collaborative support to help MACS achieve its goals and maintain legislative compliance. The team assists schools with employment issues, enterprise agreements, contracts, salaries, policies, and training for principals and leaders. The Advisor will deliver high-quality, responsive advice on complex employee relations issues for Catholic schools and Principals, contribute to policy development, and manage complex cases.



WHAT YOU WILL DO



  • Lead and contribute to the development and improvement of employee relations policies relevant to Catholic schools
  • Provide senior level support and advice within the employee relations team
  • Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including school employers and principals
  • Provide an advocacy service in Fair Work Commission and other tribunals as required


ABOUT YOU



  • Extensive professional experience in contemporary employee relations professional practice and legislation
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively at all levels and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Experience in employee relations policy development and advanced policy writing skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Specific knowledge of industrial relations legislation and knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of, workers’ compensation and other related legislation and of the terms and conditions of employment applying to school-based teaching and non-teaching staff
  • Ability to manage the resolution of workplace issues and complex tasks with minimal supervision and the capacity to work to tight timelines in a highly complex working environment
