A world-class social wellness club, designed by leading Australian architects to elevate fitness, recovery, and community. The Commons Health Club will be a space where wellness, performance, and social connections unite.
About the Role
We are seeking a driven Health Club Manager to launch and lead The Commons Health Club. This role ensures smooth operations, high occupancy, and an exceptional member experience while fostering a strong community. The ideal candidate excels in project management, team leadership, and customer service, with strong organisational and relationship-building skills.
This position is full-time. Following the launch of the first location, it will require a combination of early starts, evening shifts, and weekend cover every second week. Work-life balance arrangements can be discussed in person.

Key Responsibilities
The main duties of the role include but are not limited to the below:
Member Experience
- Act as the main point of contact for all members throughout the customer lifecycle, including escalations and complaints.
- Embody The Commons’ member-first core values and ensure your team consistently delivers exceptional customer service.
- Actively seek member feedback and implement strategies to enhance retention and satisfaction.
- Identify and execute initiatives to improve the overall member experience.
Community & Member Engagement
- Warmly welcome all members and guests at the front desk and bathhouse concierge.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for all members.
- Facilitate member connections through social events and group activities.
- Create a culture where all team members actively foster connections between members.
- Celebrate member milestones and achievements to strengthen community engagement.
Member Sales
- Conduct high-quality, personalised tours across all locations.
- Ensure teams promptly follow up on tours with pricing and membership closing strategies.
- Oversee documentation of opportunities and leads within the sales system.
- Address membership churn requests with tailored retention strategies.
Software Management & Sales Platform
- Develop a detailed understanding of the software management platform Hapana.
Procurement & Deliveries
- Support supplier outreach and negotiations.
- Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers.
- Manage supplier purchases, deliveries, and stock control.
Operations & Facilities
- Develop and implement systems to ensure locations are fully operational and well-presented.
- Conduct daily team meetings to coordinate workloads.
- Perform regular building walkthroughs to maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Ensure maintenance issues are documented, reported, and resolved promptly.
- Oversee daily administration such as emails and phone calls.
- Open and close the building as required.
Management & Leadership
- Attract, train, and retain a team of exceptional health club staff and cleaners.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and career development sessions.
- Build motivated, high-performing teams and foster a culture of excellence.
- Manage staff rosters and optimise workforce scheduling.
Payroll & Leave
- Approve and document leave requests and payroll adjustments.
- Oversee bonus and incentive payments.
Budget Management
- Manage and oversee health club-level budgets.
- Support ongoing cost-saving initiatives.
General Support
- Assist with ongoing sales and marketing initiatives.
- Support management in implementing key projects.
- Lead, oversee, and assist with new location openings.
- Handle ad-hoc operational challenges.
Experience, Qualifications & Skills
- Extensive management experience with strong leadership qualities.
- Exceptional relationship-building and community engagement skills.
- High attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in health clubs, hotels, or hospitality is preferred but not essential.
- Passion for health and fitness.
